Slow Hoist
What To Check When Your Hoist Is Too Slow

5 Signs When Your Hoist Is Too Slow

We All Have Slow Days, But Your Hoist Shouldn’t Have Them. If Your Hoist Is Dragging Under Load, Something Is Definitely Off. Here Are 5 Things To Look Out For.
1. Your Motor Is Basically Starving For Power. This Happens When The Voltage Drops Under Load, And Your Motor Can’t Deliver The Power At Full Speed. Check Your Power Supply And Wiring.
2. If Your Hoist Speeds Back Up After Sitting Idle For A Bit, Your Motor Or Brakes Might Be Overheating. They’re Telling You Something Is Restricting Airflow Or Creating Excess Friction.
3. When A Brake Isn’t Fully Released, It Is Like Driving With Your Handbrake On. Your Hoist Is Fighting Itself On Every Single Lift. Have The Brakes Checked.
4. Bad Electrical Contacts And Worn Contactor Tips Create Poor Connections And Inconsistent Power Delivery To Your Motor. This Could Be A Small Fix That Makes A Huge Difference.
5. Low Or Broken-Down Lubricant Inside The Gearbox Creates Internal Friction And Resistance. This Means Your Hoist Has To Work Twice As Hard To Move The Same Load.
Your Hoist Is Slow For A Reason. Don’t Ignore It. It Might Be Something Small, Or It Could Be An Indication That Something Bigger Is Brewing.
